Sonia graduated in chemistry followed by a post-graduate degree in Synthetic Chemistry in 1995 at University of Milan. She joined Biosearch Italia in 1997 where she became medicinal chemistry group leader. She has ten years of experience in pharmaceutical industry in the field of isolation, structural elucidation and chemical optimization of new natural products for the development of new pharmaceutical leads. Other professional experiences include total synthesis, chemical scale-up and process optimization. She is the author of over 20 publications and patent applications.
